Hair tips for your dry scalp.

Does winter have you itching and scratching yourself into a rage? Here’s a few things to try to get some relief.

Take it easy.

Use a gentle, moisturizing shampoo. Give sulfate free a try. Use a rich conditioner and massage it into your scalp.

Turn down the heat.

I know standing in a 900 degree shower is the best feeling when its cold, but hot water drys out your scalp. Limit blowdryer and hot tool use as well.

Exfoliate.

Sometimes your scalp needs a little scrubbing. You can purchase scalp scrubs at many stores or make your own. Just make sure to shampoo them out and moisturize after.

Try a medicated shampoo.

I like to try products containing salicylic acid first because its job is to help all the flakes “exit the building” in a faster manner. Dandruff shampoos containing anti-fungals are harsher and not the best for color treated hair.

Help from the inside out.

We all knew this was going to be on here somewhere. Eating healthy and staying hydrated can help with many health concerns and your skin and hair are 2 of them. Drink up, eat some Omega-3s, and if your diet is crap, maybe try a multivitamin if your doctor says it’s ok.

When to see a doctor.

Seeing your regular doctor or a dermatologist is a good idea for any condition that persists, gets worse, causes pain or has open wounds. They have the proper tools to diagnose and treat all your scalp concerns.

I hope this helps out! Have a great day everyone!
